For those that know me well.... I despise the word "princess." A lot. Well, clearly God has a sense of humor because my daughter 1) thinks she is a princess, 2) loves to watch princesses on tv, 3) loves to dress up as a princess and 4) calls me your Majesty. (Ok, well I don't mind the last one.)
So, when Abby asked for a princess party for her 4th birthday, of course I obliged! I would do anything for my girl!! (Even if it meant being covered in glitter & tulle for 3 days leading up to her party! :)
I enlisted some help and Nanny, Poppy, and Aunt Lora came into town for a few days to visit and help with the party. I could not have done it without them! It takes a village....
In order to not make the party TOO princess-y, I decided to incorporate one of Abby's favorite things to do - dress-up!! So the idea for a princess/dress-up party was born.
As soon as the little princesses arrived, we headed out on the back patio to start decorating wands. Here was the scene before the madness ensued :)

And we had a surprise guest, Miss Alba!! Although her youngest son is Abby's boyfriend, he was not invited b/c Abby wanted a party "without any stinky boys." Bless Alba's heart, she came anyway b/c she wanted to experience all the princess festivities. (She probably left thinking: "Wow, I'm glad I have 2 boys.") Ha!
Decorating wands....
Next, we headed upstairs to the guest room (aka Dressing Room....)

bought some boas as a surprise for Abby, and this was her reaction!)
Here is where it started to go downhill for Abby.....she was not keen on someone else trying on one of her crowns, so she started to get g.r.u.m.p.y.....
Done & done
Next, we headed to Abby's room for the Beauty Parlor. The girls got to pick out which accessories they wanted.
Then, two by two, the girls headed downstairs to the Nail Salon. This was a bit more hectic than I had pictured. Silly me!
As the girls' nails were drying, I sent them back out to the patio for a little dance party. Click here
to watch a snippet. It wasn't quite the hit I was
hoping for, ha! I guess all the girls were acting a little shy.
(Including Abby - like I've mentioned in a previous post, she usually
strips down to her underwear every night and has a naked dance party,
complete with LOTS of booty shakin'!)

Finally, it was time to head inside for Princess Cupcakes & Snacks!!!
I slaved over this tulle/glitter skirt for days. Never again! :) I am STILL finding glitter all over the house. Ha!
I love my Miss Priss!!! Although she was grumpy for half of the party and refused to wear a costume (after I bragged how her favorite thing ever was to play dress-up, ha!), I think she still had a great time and that is all that matters to me. I love seeing her smile and hearing her giggle with her friends. Here's to many more years of party-planning for my favorite blondie!!
Way to go your Majesty! Awesome party idea, decor, treats...everything was perfect for your little princess.
