Abby's Day

Abby had quite the birthday yesterday!!!

And it started off a little bit early - on Saturday - when special deliveries arrived from Mum Mum & Granddaddy (balloons & pink elephant) and Miss Hallie (tutu)!
Sunday, Abby's actual birthday, she shocked us all and actually SLEPT IN! Till 7:45!! That never happens. It is usually 6:45, because that's when her little body is programmed to get up for school. Maybe she's turning over a new leaf now that she's four! :)
Morning cuddles with N - clearly he is still sleepy

Books from Mommy & Daddy

Sofia the First "talking amulet" from Nate

She wore this thing all day!

Fave breakfast, courtesy of Daddy: french toast!

Finally, it was time to head to Birmingham for Abby's big birthday surprise. This had been building for over a month, and I'm in shock no one spilled the beans to her!! (Yes, Nate knew b/c we had to ask his opinion on whether he'd want to go or not.) All we told her is that it was something special and it involved lots of princesses!

When we got to the BJCC, I told Nate he could hand Abby her ticket & tell her about the surprise. Someone was excited to see Disney on Ice!!

She was a bit confused when the show started and Minnie & Mickey came out. She kept asking every 5 seconds: "Where are the princesses?!" I told her to be patient and they'd come. And oh boy did they!

Even Nate had fun! The theme was "Princesses & Heroes" so it wasn't all girly stuff :)
This is where Abby began saying "Whoa!" to everything!! She loved all the spins and jumps and lifts. Nate, however, was very concerned for all the princesses safety. He kept saying "Oh, that's dangerous; she could hit her head!" Sums up my two kiddos perfectly :)
Princess Jasmine

Belle

Completely mesmorized. This was her face 90% of the show!

The Little Mermaid & friends
Daddy & Nate went to get some snacks at intermission, so I got a little one-on-one time with the birthday girl. Think she's enjoying herself!?!
This was by far Nate's favorite part of the show. Prince Phillip was trying to get to Sleeping Beauty to wake her up with a kiss, but he had to go through this fire-breathing dragon first. It shocked all of us a little bit, but was so neat to see "real fire" on the ice. (Again, Nate noted it was safety concern even though he did think it was cool!)

He made it! Prince Phillip w/ Sleeping Beauty
Although Abby did have a fantastic time, about every 2 minutes through this 2 hour show, she kept asking me when it was Cinderella's turn. I figured she'd be near the end, and she was. But finally, she showed up! Look at that carriage!!

Abby's favorite, Cinderella

Rapunzel

Finale

More Finale, with Tinkerbell inside the carriage

On the way home, I asked the kids what they thought of Disney on Ice. Click here to hear their opinions on the show.

Someone was all partied out on the way home :)
For dinner, Abby requested yet another favorite - spaghetti. We topped off the night with family game night, the kids taking a bubble bath, and a new book at bedtime. Quite a day!!

We love you Abby Reece and had the best day celebrating YOU!!

I am laughing out loud at Nate's concern for the ice skaters! He's so gonna be the risk analyst from Along Came Polly!

  4. What a fun day! Going to be hard to top that one. I love how Nate worries about other people getting hurt ( shades of Poppy in his personality). Abby was certainly enthralled and Nate too. Happy family memories for all.
