It has been a bit dreary & depressing here lately.
We literally have had rain for 3 weeks straight, and a soggy backyard to go with it. Poor Nate keeps complaining that they haven't played outside at school "in forever." Then, this past weekend, a 13 year old local boy was tragically killed in a hunting accident. Though I did not know him personally, I have many friends that did, and my heart just breaks for them. I just cannot.even.imagine.
But with that said.... today was an especially good day!! We were lucky enough to have:
a. SNOW this morning
b. Sunshine this afternoon
c. And Nate got to have a playdate with our next-door neighbor!
It's days like today that make me realize how truly blessed we are, and how precious life is. My kids could not stop smiling today, and neither could I!
Abby got to "play" in the flurries first, as the snow began around 10 am and Nate was in school. I don't know which she was more excited about - the snow, or wearing Nate's old fireman rain boots.
She lasted about 3 minutes and then decided she was tired of the snow hitting her face. Later, we geared up again to go get Nate from school at 12, and he was super excited about the snow! His sweet teacher had taken the kids outside in pairs to catch snowflakes on their tongues. Nate thought it was hilarious that he got ice/snow in his hair when we ran to the car too. Love my beautiful boy!
The snow really picked up on our way home, and we pulled up to this! Be still my heart!
Of course we had to play in it, and the kids went right to work making snowballs to save for Daddy :)
Catching more snowflakes on our tongues. Again, my kids do NOT like snow in their eyes! :)
The view from Abby's bedroom window. It's so neat to see our street covered in WHITE for the first time!
Waiting for Daddy when he got home :)
And then sweet Jack came over after naptime for a "boys' playdate!" These two are both obsessed with legos, and although 1.5 years apart, they get along so so well. I'm so excited for Nate to have a new friend, and especially one that literally lives next door. I think we are going to make a "secret" stone path through the bushes between our houses. I see lots of playdates in our future!!
Like I said, today was a great day....... :)
