We just brought our boy home yesterday from Camp Nanny & Poppy in NC……and man,
was he missed! He was full of stories and had.a.ball with Nanny & Poppy.
I’m not sure what he loved more – all the one-on-one attention, or all the new
toys!
J
Nate was there for 5 full days, plus 2 travel days. That’s
quite a long time to be away from us! But according to him, he could have
stayed “12 more days.” I’m glad he didn’t miss us, ha!
The pool nearby to N&P just recently underwent a
renovation, and as it happens, the grand re-opening was last Friday (N’s first
day)! He had a blast at the big pool, splash pad, and lazy river. (In fact,
they returned 2 other times later in the week!)
He had two good visits with Deedee (his great-grandma) and
loved showing her all of his action figures, transformers, and coloring books.
N&P took Nate to the
Nature
Science Center
in
Greensboro
one day as well. He got to see “real animals” and “really really old ones” and
thought that was neat. I’m not sure who enjoyed themselves more – Nanny (the
teacher nerd) or Nate!
J
A few more highlights of Nate's visit included:
- a playdate at the pool with Mom’s teacher friend and her 4
year daughter
- going to see the movie “The Lorax”
-building forts with Poppy
- pointing out potential birthday presents at Toys ‘R Us
-using the iStory app on Nanny's kindle (it reads books out loud)
- eating lunch & playing at McDonalds
- playing at Tanglewood
Park
- singing and dancing for Deedee to his VBS songs
We decided the best way to do the “hand-off” between us and
N&P was to meet halfway. We each drove about 4.5 hours and met in Commerce,
GA Wednesday around lunchtime. The kids were SO excited to see each other and
giggled throughout lunch and on the playground at Chic-fil-a.
Greg & Poppy
braved the hotel at the pool (b/c the kids were nowhere ready to nap!) while
Nanny & I hit up the Tanger Outlets!!! We had so.much.fun and made quite a
dent in the kids’ fall wardrobes. Nanny even found the perfect first day of
school outfit for Miss Priss. LOVE!! (It's hard to see but it's a little bubble shirt!!)
After showing off all of our purchases back at the hotel, we
found a yummy Mexican place for dinner. Then N&P took the kids back to the
hotel while Greg & I returned to the outlets to shop for some new work
clothes & shorts for him.
All in all, it was a successful shopping day and something I
think will become a new tradition for us each year after Camp N&P. Nate is
already looking forward to next year’s camp, and so am I b/c it will be Abby’s
first time!
J
Thank you, N&P for taking such good care of our boy (maybe TOO good, ha)! I know he will cherish and remember these special times
alone with you guys for the rest of his life.
Sheesh.. no wonder he was bored when he came home! hahaha Looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteANd um.. Im so gonna need a pic of Abby in that shirt.. TOO CUTE!
