Football Fun, Part 1

We had quite a fun weekend, centered around football! (I guess after living here for 2 years, I should know this is norm. Ha!)

Friday night, we went to our first Holy Spirit high school football game. It was homecoming, and the kids had been hearing about the game all week. They saw the homecoming parade & pep rally on Friday, and even got goody bags from the PTO with a shaker & coupon for free admittance to the game. Score! Abby was flabbergasted when I picked her up from school on Friday and could NOT wait to tell me about her day. She had seen "lots of lovely cheerleaders" and a REAL king & queen at the homecoming parade!!! :) Too stinkin' cute.

As expected, once we got to the game, Abby immediately zeroed in on the cheerleaders & decided to stand to get the best view. Love her stance here, mimicking the cheerleaders.

 

And then at halftime, one of my friends (who is a teacher at the high school), took me & Abby down.on.the.field to meet the cheerleaders and hold their "real" pom poms! Abby was beside herself with excitement, but showed that by being super super shy. The cheerleaders were so sweet with her and I seriously think she held onto those pom poms for a good 20 minutes.

And while Abby was fascinated with the cheerleaders, Nate had fun running around with his gang of 3 buds from school. They were sweaty, smelly, had sticky fingers/faces from ring pops, and had a ball!! Nate even got to see/hang out with his 6th Grade Buddy, which was pretty much the highlight of his week. He adores Brady and from what I can tell, Brady is a super sweet kid and went out of his way to include Nate while he was with his friends. (Keep in mind these are 6th grade boys!) Nate said they were running around & tackling each other a lot, and one time someone said a "bad word," and Nate heard Brady say "Hey, watch your language" and motioned towards Nate. Too cute! :) 

Needless to say, we love our kids' school, and how tight-knit all the kids are. The preschool, elementary, and middle/high school are all side by side, so it's neat how they encourage activities for all the grades at the same time. We will definitely be going to more football games in the near future. It reminds me of my high school years and how much fun I had with my friends every Friday night. Shout out to my West Forsyth Titans!!
