Basketball Star

Nate has begun yet another season of basketball!!

There were *so* many interested 5th graders this year, they had to create 2 teams ! And fill in with a few 4th graders too. He is with Coach Jason again, and has some great kids on his team (one being the coach's son, Nigel, who is a superstar). Most of his 5th grade friends are on the other team, but, Coach Jason has been holding their twice a week practices together (and all the games are back-to-back), so he's been able to be with his friends a little bit. Coach Jason is a saint for taking on 2 teams this season!!

Nate's first game was November 29th, and both he & Nigel played the whole game. And, they won 13-9!!!!! Nate was defensive MVP and improved *so much* from last season. He got sports glasses (and some high-tops) and I think they are giving him more confidence! Plus he has a lot more endurance this season, now that he's become a top notch runner.

Coach Jason was out of town for a game in early December, so Greg and one other dad stepped in to help. Nate loved it!

Nigel's brother shot this video of Nate making a basket at a recent game. He has scored in 4 out of 5 games so far!! (Huge improvement - I think he scored a whopping ONE basket last season!) Click here to watch a quick clip of Nate making a basket!

So far, we are halfway through the season and are currently sitting pretty at 5-0!!! It's been a great season so far and I hope the team can keep it up. I have so much fun watching Nate & his teammates play!
